It seems that Greg Ball just is unable to keep from cheating. In Mr. Ball’s world, the rules just don’t apply to him.
The complaint (attached) alleges the Mr. Ball directly or through a failure to supervise his staff has violated numerous campaign finance laws. Mr. Ball solicited and accepted campaign contributions from corporations. He solicited funds in excess of the contribution limits. He did a round of robo-calls (don’t you love getting those?), without announcing who paid for the calls or approved the message, also a violation of campaign finance laws.
There's more
The complaint prompted me to take a my own look at Mr. Ball’s disclosure report. The report raises more questions than it answers. The first half-dozen contributions come from LLCs or partnerships. Those may be legit or they may not be, you can’t tell from the report. There are numerous in kind contributions, matched with in-kind distributions. Again it could be ok, but these could also be masking excessive contributions and corporate contributions. There are more questions; I hope the FEC will deal investigate.
Ball, as a member of the State Assembly and as a wannabee Congress member, apparently wants to make laws. But he seems incapable of doing it legitimately. He apparently just makes up the rules as goes along to suit his personal needs, that's the kind of legislating Greg Ball does.

FEC Requested Additional Information from Ball Campaign
margaret on Sun, 10/11/2009 - 09:45Ball campaign is spreading more misinformation about his FEC problems. Matt Mackowiak, the general consultant for Ball4NY, claimed the complaint was baseless. "This is purely political. There have been no complaints or requests for information made by the Federal Election Commission."
Gary Levine promptly corrected this erroneous statement. “Mr. Mackowiak’s assertion on behalf of the Ball campaign is factually incorrect. The FEC did send them a letter on August 18 stating their filing was insufficient,” said Gary Levine. “My complaint to the FEC was a request to investigate circumstances which on its face indicates Assemblyman Ball is not playing by the rules.”
